Autism is something we hear about almost every day. Awareness commercials, literature, and news stories have all impacted us in one way or another. This year, more children will be diagnosed with autism than diabetes, cancer, and AIDS combined! Overlook’s seventh graders have decided to do something to make a difference. The Michala Riggle Beat Autism Foundation Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit, completely dedicated to promoting awareness, determining causation, treating and eradication the disorder of autism. After Michala’s brother was diagnosed, she began making beaded bracelets and selling them for $3 each, donating all of the money to help other children receive the same quality care her brother had. Her beading projects have reached thousands of people and Overlook students want to help her make a difference. The group is meeting several times after school with Mrs. Gaidanowicz to make bracelets which they will be selling to help Michala’s cause. The bracelets can be viewed on this page by clicking on the tab above. When ordering please include the style and size you would like (5” younger child, 6” older child, 7” most women, 8” most men) and you will be sent a PayPal invoice.
